About Us
Operation S.O.S was created in 1989 and chartered as a non-profit corporation in 1990 to assist missionary schools and clinics in Haiti. Since its inception, the organization has assisted thousands of children by providing scholarships, school supplies, computer or lunch program sponsorships. We financed special programs such as the construction of a recreation room for the children of the Preventorium de Port au Prince in 1992, the financing of bathrooms by the Petits Freres De Ste. Therese for the village of Riviere Froide in 2000, or the construction of restrooms for students and teachers in 2001 in Baconnois. We assisted the peoples of Jacmel in 1995 after the passage of Hurricane Gordon; Hurricane George victims in Fonds Verettes in 1998; and relief to the 2004 victims of hurricanes Faye, Gustave and Hanna.
We have no paid staff and our office space and equipment are donated. Ninety five percent of donations are used to assist the poorest of the poor in Haiti. We are an Illinois not-for-profit corporation (501 (c) (3)
